n 2010, Michele Joseph had just been diagnosed with cancer, which led her to think deeply about her value to her community and what she wanted to achieve. She recognized that her son, along with other underserved youth, did not have the opportunities to develop soft skills (such as critical thinking, creative problem solving, and empathetic leadership) needed for college and a career. She deeply believes that every student has the capacity to positively impact their communities and ultimately the world, yet underserved students may not be given the opportunity to do so. Hence, she founded SGAP Leaders.
Prior to founding SGAP Leaders, Joseph held several senior and entrepreneurial positions. She secured roles as the Senior Vice President of a boutique marketing firm in New York City, and the Director of Brand Strategy, Training and Execution for klick consultants LLC – her brand marketing consultancy – where she aligned teams through clear messaging. Michele lead teams within the information technology, engineering, e-recycling, nonprofit, federal government (DOD, HHS), and small business sectors. Ms. Joseph also partnered with the corporate brand management team at Verizon Communications as the manager of merger issues. She also worked as the strategic marketing representative for the Government Systems division of Silicon Graphics, Inc where she developed successful target marketing initiatives for DIA, DISA, NSA and Lockheed Martin.
