From a Six-Figure Tech Job to Therapist in Her 40s - Suprit Gupta Career Change. What would make you leave a successful, six-figure job to start over in your 40s? She faced this big question when she began thinking about the life she wanted to live. Even though she had built a career in technology, she realized success and a good income weren't enough to give her the sense of purpose she wanted. She started asking herself what she might regret later in life and what changes she needed to make while she still had the chance. That honest moment became the start of a new direction.
- What do I want my life to look like when I am older? Looking back at her past made her realize that she did not want to keep living with regrets. Instead of waiting until later in life, she decided to take action and make choices that felt right for her. Her story shows why it can be important to stop, reflect, and think about what truly matters. A successful career can be meaningful, but personal happiness and purpose matter too.
- Changing careers is not always easy, especially when you have children and family responsibilities. She made the brave choice to leave her high-paying tech job and return to school to become a marriage and family therapist. She earned her master's degree in her 40s while raising young children and living with her in-laws. Her experience shows that starting over does not have to mean giving up on your future. Even when life is busy and responsibilities feel heavy, it is possible to work toward a new goal when you are ready to make a change.
- Her father passed away while she was studying marriage and family therapy, adding another emotional challenge to an already important period of change. Life does not always follow the plan we first imagined. Sometimes, difficult experiences can lead us to think more deeply about our priorities, our relationships, and the future we want to create. Choosing a different career can be about more than work or money. It can also be about building a life that feels more meaningful.
- Career change is a reminder that it is never too late to question old choices and move toward a life that better reflects your values. Leaving a six-figure tech job and studying to become a therapist took courage, planning, and a willingness to begin again. This short video shares a part of her personal journey and the moment she decided to stop living with regret. This clip is taken from a longer conversation.
